Creso table, Lella and Massimo Vignelli - Acerbis Design

Designer

A singular form with a monolith’s silhouette, the Creso table experiments with a sole pedestal of support to transform a table into the kind of vigorous geometry that defined the eye of Lella and Massimo Vignelli.
Returned to a more faithful rendering of Vignelli’s ideas, the new Creso explores a use of materials that underlines the potency of the design, with its round top and pillar base crafted formidably in travertine, or topped by glass and marble, braced by a base with various metallic finishes.

Dimensions

Product plus

A sculptural table that surprises with its refined materials and graphic proportions.

The top can be up to 180cm in diameter.

The central base allows full use of the table top.

Finishes

The surfaces are available in the following finishes:
– Transparent glass, 15 mm thick;
– White arabesque marble, black Marquinia, red Levanto, green Alpi, 20 mm thick; marbles with polyester glossy finishes are available upon request;
– Matt Travertine, 20 mm thick (max Ø160cm), stone with a natural polished finish. The Travertine top is only paired with the base in the same finish.

The cylindrical base (Ø40 and Ø50 cm) is made with a steel tube, painted in a gun-metal grey or orbital bronze finish, or clad with a brass-plated steel foil. Another variation is the single-material version in matte Travertine, made from a single block. An internal iron column supports the weight of the entire structure without negatively impacting the marble cladding.

Matt Travertine marble MR08

Travertine is a sedimentary and calcareous rock that is mainly distinguished by its unique compactness. In traditional form, it is a fairly uniform light beige stone, and the surface is puttied and polished to compensate for its porosity. The product consists of a mixture of carefully selected raw materials that are sintered at very high temperatures. The obtained slabs show off the splendid veining of marble in all its nuances and layering, which compares favourably with quarried marble.

Transparent glass VT17

Glass slab characterised by transparency and absence of colour.

Matt white arabesque marble MR02

Marble white arabescato, extracted from the Alpi Apuane, is a fine marble characterised by its crystal white colour and dark grey veins. Marble white arabescato and selected stones enhance the veins and shades. The deep hues and brightness of the mineral mosaics are the result of thousands of years of the stone’s natural metamorphic process and are skilfully brought to light in all their beauty.

Matt Alpi Green marble MR07

Marble of great aesthetic value, refined and elegant. Compact and uniform structure with a remarkable chromatic variety. The basic tone is dark green with numerous shades, with veins tending towards white or yellow, which stand out against the green background and make the material unique. Stone slabs of first choice, carefully matched from the same block, without necessary granting of the continuity of the grains. Any differences in the texture, grains, color, or the presence of natural cracks filled with resin are natural attributes.

Matt Levanto red marble MR06

Levanto red marble has been considered a highly precious marble since ancient times. It is a particular marble, characterised by a predominantly red colouring with white veins. Stone slabs of first choice, carefully matched from the same block, without necessary granting of the continuity of the grains. Any differences in the texture, grains, color, or the presence of natural cracks filled with resin are natural attributes.

Matt Marquinia black marble MR05

Nero Marquina marble is extracted from Spanish caves and is deep black in colour. This natural stone is crossed by white or light grey veins. Stone slabs of first choice, carefully matched from the same block, without necessary granting of the continuity of the grains. Any differences in the texture, grains, color, or the presence of natural cracks filled with resin are natural attributes.

Matt Travertine marble MR08

Travertine is a sedimentary and calcareous rock that is mainly distinguished by its unique compactness. Matt painted orbital bronze MT14

Multi-layered varnishing with a "scratched" effect obtained by manual brushing. The difference between coffee tables of the same finish is characteristic of the manual workmanship, which may be susceptible to variations in tone and homogeneity.

Satin polished steel - brass effect MT03

Polished mirror with brass-plated finish stainless steel AISI 304

Matt painted gunmetal MT13

Multi-layered painting with "gunmetal" effect. The difference between coffee tables of the same finish is characteristic of the manual workmanship, which may be susceptible to variations in tone and homogeneity.

The genesis of Creso attempted to recover the craft technique of Encaustic art, or “Venetian stucco”, in which a very fine sand plaster is applied with a spatula and then the colours, inspired by the 18th century paintings of the landscape artist, Francesco Guardi, are heated and fused.
