For the Salone del Mobile 2022 design fair two historic leading players of Made in Italy, Acerbis and the Maison Salvatore Ferragamo present ITALIAN EXCELLENCE, a project curated by Francesco Meda and David Lopez Quincoces, creative directors of Acerbis, within the Fuorisalone context.

ITALIAN EXCELLENCE is a visual representation of Italian-ness and of the signature refined aesthetics that underly the work and research of Acerbis and Ferragamo, concurrently presenting timeless products that tell the story of great Italian masters.

The shop windows of the Ferragamo Women’s and Men’s boutique in Via Montenapoleone become the stage for a series of compositions realised with products from the Remasters collection.

In the Women’s boutique, the historic Med seat is realised in the multicolour suede that is characteristic of the Rainbow wedge, the Maison’s iconic sandal created in 1938 by Salvatore Ferragamo for Judy Garland.

In the Men’s boutique, Med instead reinterprets the brown leather shoes realised in 1959 for Andy Warhol, who used them during his painting sessions.

The Storet chest of drawers – visionary creation of Nanda Vigo from 1994 – dialogues in terms of colours and rounded shapes with the Ferragamo Rainbow shoe. The pieces in the shop window combine with a background of colored neon that create play of light to enhance the unique geometry.

Florian by Vico Magistretti is shown in the Women’s boutique’s shop window in several suspended pieces, to enhance the idea of lightness, and in a folded version. In the Men’s boutique, tables are placed out of context and become a sort of adjustable separé that recalls a children’s game.
Finally, the great composition created with the different marble bases of the Menhir table by Giotto Stoppino and Lodovico Acerbis was conceived as a backstage of totems in which the circular planes of tables intersecting in a continuity of plane and plinth forms.
